SONGS OF ASCENSION is a 40-minute physical and vocal performance created and performed by the LaMaison collective – Giulia Miceli, Beatriz Moreira, and Iris Auguste. The work portrays the exponential, chaotic, and poetic journey of three women as they claim ownership of their multifaceted identities. Through movement charged with sensitivity and intense vocal expression, their female bodies reclaim the meaning of their own expression.
Distorted senses, expanded desires, and blurred boundaries guide them as they navigate and challenge the surrounding space with their eyes closed. They dive into the linearity of the sexual and the animalistic, evoking states of pleasure, pain, and hysteria through bodies brimming with curiosity. The audience is invited to witness the performers’ elevation and emancipation – both physical and symbolic.
Iris Auguste
French performer and choreographer. She trained in ballet, hip hop, and contemporary dance at the Conservatoire of Annecy. In 2020, she joined SEAD, Salzburg Experimental Dance Academy, where she worked with various artists and creators such as Milla Koistinen, Matteo Fargion, Israel Aloni, Mal Pelo, and Anna Leon. During her studies, Iris participated in a choreography program where she created three pieces under the guidance of Jelka Milic, Fargion, and Sabine Holzer. She is one of the founding members of LaMaison, a collective dedicated to choreographic creation with values of collaboration, horizontality, feminism, and experimentation. Since August 2024, Iris has been a dancer with Carte Blanche – The Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance, under the direction of Annabelle Bonnery, collaborating in creations by Esther Salomon, Jan Martens, Katerina S. Andreou, and Tori Wranes.

Through the LaMaison collective, Beatriz has been developing her artistic path as both creator and performer. In 2024, she premiered SONGS OF ASCENSION in Salzburg and at Teatro Campo Alegre in Porto, in collaboration with Companhia Instável. Currently based in Portugal, she is focused on developing new projects, including her solo piece Ventrica, supported by Bolsa Mórula – Companhia Instável Centro Coreográfico, and SEKOIA, with residency support. In the coming years, Beatriz will delve further into the world of creation through her Master’s in Choreographic Creation and Professional Practices at Escola Superior de Dança. Through her artistic practice, she is committed to exploring the physicality and poetic potential of contemporary dance, collaborating with artists from different disciplines and contexts.
