BOWND focuses its movement research on the concept of Boundaries (the individual’s boundaries). “Own,” “Bond,” and “Bound” are key words on the path to constructing the limits of the human being, aiming for a clearer awareness and expression of who we are and who we are not — a discovery made only in relation to others. We propose studying behavior patterns through action, reaction, consequence, repetition, and exception, transgression and respect, emotion and impulse, in a constant testing of the boundaries between us. These boundaries are explored through three atmospheres — Boundaryless, Boundaryful, and Boundaries. In addition to contemporary dance, which embraces Hip Hop, House, and Body Percussion, we emphasize vocal sounds, breath sounds, body sounds, contact sounds, and even the spoken word.
