“Parô ou o Belo Abismo”, by Só Filipe
Pâro ou o Belo Abismo highlights a burst of power at the crossroads of imbalance. Moving from the stagnation of time, gazing into the deep depression of the void, one tries the impossible again. Being-object, being-animal, being of not knowing. From the ground where one stood, motionless, petrified by the suicidal hyper-reality, to learning how to spit out the dance of moratorium, of life… in order to walk differently once more.
Só Filipe was born in Caxinas. In 2000, he began studying object manipulation in an empirical way, focusing on technique influenced by Finnish circus rawness. He developed a particular interest in the synergy between the body and the object, repositioning himself within the hierarchical relationship between these two elements. Over years of practice, his focus shifted away from technical virtuosity, prioritizing the immaterial, with the body and voice acting as autonomous triggers. This has resulted in a hybrid language and a distorted form of virtuosity.
