“Simulacro” is an exercise in intimacy, repetition, and resistance.
Two bodies in continuous action explore the boundaries of their proximity through the degenerative nature of the gesture. A diffuse space is created between the real and staged, between the public and the private, potentiating states of vulnerability, expectation, and tension. “Simulacro” part of a set of actions and gestures present in the everyday life of the two interpreters, crossed by fragments of shared memories, in a slow exercise of transforming the bodies and their pulsions.
Carminda Soares is a dancer and creator. She has worked with Victor Hugo Pontes, Eduardo Torroja, Sarah Friedland, Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte, Catarina Miranda, Marianela Boán, Gonçalo Lamas, among others. As a creator she highlights “Simulacro” in partnership with Margarida Montenÿ, her solo project “Light On Light” and “It’s a long yesterday,” created in partnership with Maria R. Soares.
Margarida Montenÿ works in the field of circus and performing arts. Her research follows a transdisciplinary approach, exploring states of intimacy, strength, and vulnerability. Among her creations are BLUE (premiered in 2023) and Simulacro (created in partnership with Carminda Soares, premiered in 2022). She has also collaborated as a performer with Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte/Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, Miguel Pereira, Companhia Erva Daninha, Circo Caótico, Vanda R. Rodrigues/Antípoda, Cláudia Nóvoa, among others.
