“ЯΛ́ЯΛ” / New Creation by Catarina Miranda for Companhia Instável
For the new creation ЯΛ́ЯΛ, we are looking for five performers residing in Portugal, with strong technical, rhythmic, and artistic skills in the fields of dance and music.
We pay particular attention to the uniqueness of each performer, as well as their openness to explore the body as a space for ecstatic transformation.
Experience with wind instruments will also be a relevant criterion in the selection process. We invite each applicant to prepare a two-minute solo based on rhythm, movement, and/or breath.
ЯΛ́ЯΛ explores the power of collective phenomena, delving into sound vibration, light frequencies, and altered states of consciousness through repetition and rhythm.
In parallel, two interns will also be selected through the audition process to accompany the creation.
The selection will be based on professional experience, a presentation video, and a motivation letter.
Catarina Miranda
Catarina Miranda has been developing and presenting creative projects based on fictional narratives, using languages that intersect dance, voice, scenography and light, approaching the body as a vehicle for hypnagogic transformation and present-time awareness.
She holds a degree in Visual Arts (FBAUP) and a Master’s in Choreography (EXERCE, ICI-CCN Montpellier). Her work is defined by the creation of topographies and bodies that are both archetypal and post-human.
Her projects — including ΛƬSUMOЯI, CABRAQIMERA, DREAM IS THE DREAM, REIPOSTO REIMORTO, and BOCA MURALHA — have been presented at venues such as the Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, Gulbenkian Foundation, and Serralves Museum.
She collaborates with Instável as a teacher and artist, having presented SHARK and RAM MAN at Palcos Instáveis / Teatro Municipal do Porto.
In 2024, through her collective COBRACORAL, she collaborated with FAÍCC students on the project S-P-H-Y-M-O, presented at Fundação Serralves.
Apply to audition until June 13
The results of the applications will be communicated via email by June 27.
Selected candidates will be invited to attend the in-person audition in Porto and will receive all information about the conditions via email.
The online audition may also serve for future editions of FAÍCC and FOCAR.

Creation period of the project
October 6 to 24, 2025 (3 weeks)

It is strictly necessary that candidates have full availability for the creation periods and presentation dates defined.
This project does not provide accommodation during the creation period in Porto.
The creation period may extend outside Porto; in that case, logistical expenses will be covered.
